Orange County Pop Warner (OCPW) is part of the nationwide organization of Pop Warner, Inc. OCPW is in the Consolidated Football Federation (CFF) league in the Mid-south region. Founded in March 2006, OCPW provides youth football and cheerleading programs for youth ages 5-16 while stressing the importance of scholastics. OCPW makes every effort to provide an opportunity to play football or cheer for any interested child.
Participation in OCPW programs provide boys and girls an opportunity to learn and perform football and cheerleading fundamentals in an organized, supervised, and safety-oriented environment. Our programs emphasize teamwork, hard work, and sportsmanship while building self-confidence for all participants in a positive atmosphere.
Every year, the Orange County Pop Warner regular and bowl season begins on August 1st and runs until mid-November. The post-season for Jr Peewee teams and older can continue
from mid-November to mid-December.
All Football Teams and Cheerleading Squads are formed and filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Practices will be held at the field at Cane Creek Baptist Activities Center (6717 Orange Grove Road, Hillsborough 27278).
Practices will be 10 hrs/wk (6-8 pm) from August 1 until August 25th. The week of August 25th, practices will change to Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:45-7:45pm (Tiny-mites teams will only practice on Mondays and Thursdays with possible optional Tuesdays).
There is a mandatory 20-hours conditioning requirement for both football and cheer in order to participate in scrimmages and games, so practice attendance is important. Therefore, we ask that you please attempt to complete family vacations by August 1st.
Organizational, team, and individual photos, Saturday Jamboree games, and a Sunday OCPW Kickoff Dinner for the entire family are all held in mid to late August prior to our first regular season game. All these dates will be announced once official dates are provided by National Pop Warner.
Games are played on Saturdays and are usually scheduled to start the last Saturday in August (weather permitting). Game schedules will be determined in mid-late August by the league board and OCPW posts the game schedules as soon as they are received. Game locations and times will vary depending on the age division. OCPW can travel to any of the other 12 association locations in the CFF league. Do not assume that all OCPW teams will play away games at the same location; that is usually not the case due to the varying number of teams per age division within the CFF league.
OCPW is a volunteer organization and encourages all our families to get involved. Being run entirely by volunteers, we need families to help but not limited to the following areas: coaching staff, team parent, team equipment manager, gate attendance, concessions/merchandise, field setup & maintenance, chain gang, and fundraising/sponsorship. We understand the commitment required for our children to play competitive tackle football and cheer and make every effort to share the responsibilities by encouraging car pooling and volunteer duties.
