The helmet, shoulder pads, and pant pads can be washed with soap and water. Please clean before turning in. You will be expected to clean the items at turn in if not done prior to bringing them in.

All uniforms must be returned clean.

The uniforms and equipment will be inspected for damage upon return (per equipment contract).

October 27 game info

Please remember that all home games on Sat Oct 27 will now be held at AL Stanback Middle School. Game times remain the same (see calendar). The games will not be canceled.

It will be muddy so bring lots of towels and/or change of clothes for after your game.

Location Change for OCPW Home Games

ALL OCPW HOME GAMES FOR SATURDAY (OCT 27TH) WILL BE AT AL STANBACK MIDDLE SCHOOL, NOT AT CEDAR RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL.

• There will be portajohns available and minimal concessions (no hot foods).
• WE NEED ADDITIONAL VOLUNTEERS FOR CONCESSIONS (please contact Eileen Stough if available to help).

Cheer Practice Canceled

TM cheer practice is canceled for tonight, Thurs (Oct 25th), only. Be at the field @ 8:30 am on Sat, Oct 27th, since practice was canceled for tonight.

JP GAME

It is official, there will be a JP game on this Sat (Oct 27th) against the Sanford Sting @ 1:30 pm. The game will be at Cedar Ridge HS.

There is JP practice tonight (Thursday, Oct 25th) from 5:45-7:45 pm.

JP GAME UPDATE

1. The OCPW vs WF Lightening game had be permently canceled.
2. However, we may play Sanford Sting at 1:30 pm @ Cedar Ridge.

• This is tentative b/c I have not received confirmation from Sanford yet. They were technically finished last night atfer their forfeit.
• We are waiting to hear back from the referees to see if they could even do the extra game

So, Thursday's practice is tentative being placed back on the calendar. Practice will continue in rain and stopped for lightning.

AS SOON AS WE KNOW IF SANFORD CAN MAKE IT AND HEAR FROM THE REFS, WE WILL LET YOU KNOW.

Oct 27th OCPW Home Game Volunteers NEEDED

The OCPW 2007 regular season ends with home games this Sat, Oct 27th, for the TM, MM, and PW Orange County Tar Heels.

• Volunteers are needed for admissions (2) for the following time periods: 8-9:30 am, 9:30-10:30 am, and 10:30 am-12:00 pm
• Volunteers are needed for the chain gang (3) during each games: TM, MM, and PW
• Volunteers (4) are needed for clean up after the PW game

Please contact your team parent or Eileen Stough as soon as possible. We thank you in advance for your assistance.

• Lou Bartek--2006-2007 OCPW Board member; 2007 assistant football coach at Carrboro High; 2006 OCPW Jr Midget head football coach 1 son played for OCPW (1 yr)
• Gary Colson--2006-2007 OCPW Board member; 2007 OCPW Mighty-mite head coach; 2006 OCPW Tiny-mite assistant coach; 2 sons played for OCPW (2 yrs)
• Rachel Hawig--2007 TM cheer team parent; 1 son played for OCPW (2 yrs); 1 daughter cheered for OCPW (1 yr)
• Josh Wood--2006 OCPW Tiny-mite assistant coach; 1 son played for OCPW (2 yrs)

The annual OCPW meeting to elect the 2007-2008 OCPW Board will be on Tues, Oct 30th, @ 6 pm.

1. The legal guardian(s) of the OCPW player/cheerleader is a member eligible to vote.
2. The member can only vote for himself/herself.
3. If unable to attend the annual meeting, please contact Eileen Stough for absentee ballot.
4. Absentee ballot must be received by Sunday, Oct 28th. NO EXCEPTIONS

Game Schedule Changes

Note the following game changes:

1. JP: OC Tar Heels vs Wake Forest Lightening will be played on Wed, Oct 24th, @ 6:30pm at Wilders Grove (see maps for directions).
2. PW: OC Tar Heels vs Wilders Grove will be played at Cedar Ridge on Sat, Oct 27th, @ 12pm.

2007-2008 Board Nominations

If you are interested in serving on the OCPW Board of Directors, please submit your nomination to Eileen Stough by Oct 22nd.

• There are 4 two-year term positions of which 2 alternate years with the other 2 and the remaining positions are yearly.
  
  These are the 2-yr term positions of the Board:
  1) President: open (currently Bryan Stough)
  2) Vice-President: Greg Strowd
  3) Treasurer: open (currently Mark Brown)
  4) Secretary: Eileen Stough
  
  The remainder of these are yearly positions (we would like the football commissioner and cheer coordinator to be persons interested in staying on for several years for consistency).
  
  5) Football Commissioner: open (required to attend monthly league meetings)
  6) Cheer Coordinator: open (required to attend monthly league meetings)
  7) Scholastic Coordinator: open (possibly required to attend monthly league meetings)
  
  At-large positions: open (2)
  
  There are monthly OCPW meetings throughout the year with possibility of extra meetings if necessary. Board members will be required to be at registrations. If more than 2 consecutive board meetings are missed, the member will be removed from the board and the position will filled by someone nominated by the board.

Pop Warner Night @ Carrboro High

Come join the Carrboro Jaguars on October 19th as they invite you to come in uniform for

POP WARNER NIGHT AT CARRBORO HIGH!

Meet at the stairs of the football field @ 6:50 pm in uniform.

OCPW participants will be running onto the field with the Carrboro Jaguars prior to the start of the game.

Note: Parents must remain with their OCPW participants.

• Cost: $7.00 admission cost (current participants in their Pop Warner Uniform are free)

Volunteers

UNC basketball has non-profit organizations run their concessions during games. OCPW is on a waiting list to be able to do so (UNC donates a percentage of the profits from that concession to the organization). When opportunities arise, each organization must be able to provide 18-20 volunteers per game. Unfortunately, they ask that no children under 12 volunteer due to safety reasons. If you are interested in being a volunteer if and when UNC contacts us for a game, please submit Kimberly Nevin now so that we will know if we have the volunteers to do so. It's a fun and easy way to raise money for OCPW!

Mark your calendars to get together one last time as an organization to celebrate a successful 2007 season (not necessarily always shown on the scoreboard)! The teams have come so far from 2006's inaugural season!! We continue to be excited for the future of OCPW for years to come.

The Original Q-Shack has generously offered to provide dinner. We're asking families to provide drinks (non-alcoholic, of course) and desserts--please contact your team parent if you would like to help with drinks or desserts.

There will be a slideshow of the 2007 season (please send Eileen pics via email or on a disk ASAP--all pics submitted may not be in the slideshow but they will all be posted on the website).
